Overview:
A medical center in Musgrave Road experienced chronic dampness in its interior stairwell. The problem stemmed from the natural stone cladding installed on the exterior walls. Since the wall behind the cladding was never waterproofed before installation, the porous stone absorbed moisture, leading to persistent damp issues inside the building.
Problem Diagnosis:
- The cladding material was highly absorbent, allowing water ingress.
- The lack of prior waterproofing left the underlying wall vulnerable to moisture retention.
- The issue caused long-term dampness, affecting both the structural integrity and indoor air quality.
Solution Implementation:
To address the issue effectively while maintaining the textured aesthetic of the cladding, the Target Roofing & Waterproofing team:
- Utilized a SkyJack to access the full height of the affected exterior wall safely and efficiently.
- Applied a Liquid Polyurethane Sealer over and around the cladding to create a seamless waterproof barrier.
- Used a Three-Coat Application Process to ensure full coverage and long-term durability.
- Final Finish: The area was later painted in a gray color to match the overall building aesthetic.
Outcome:
- The waterproofing solution successfully eliminated the persistent damp issues inside the stairwell.
- The medical center retained its desired textured finish while achieving complete water resistance.
- Long-term protection was established, preventing further moisture-related damage to the building.
